In recent news, the leaker ‘Midori’ has been exposed. They have gone on X, formerly known as Twitter, confirming that such allegations are true. They have since deleted their Twitter account and will no longer post any future leaks. Previously, they were known as MysticDistance.
Before this, MysticDistance had behaved differently and had even threatened an employee to provide them with insider information else he would have exposed their chat history. Again this may just be a rumor.
They’ve only started using Midori’s account after getting consistent ADHD medication. Midori was created due to MysticDistance’s love for ATLUS and SEGA games.
In case you’re not up to date on your video game rumor news, you should know that last night an account named Midori — which became popular and even beloved for sharing mostly unproven Sega and Nintendo rumors — was revealed to be a male Persona fan cosplaying as a Japanese woman

Midori had built up a reputation for many leaks most notably for games like the Persona series that turned out to be legit when he was just guessing at best as he didn’t have a credible source. But recently, they have started branching out of ATLUS games such as Dragon Quest. At one point, they leaked about the characters for Smash Ultimate before its release date and were proven wrong.
They also had a Discord server where many members had formed a parasocial relationship with them; obsessed with knowing more personal details about Midori from her age to asking for her contact number.
MysticDistance claimed they did not mean to fool people into thinking they were an employee of ATLUS/SEGA or catfish anyone in a long Twitter thread. Needless to say, many were betrayed by being lied to for years.
Midori was actually a man from California disguising themselves as a Japanese woman. By using poor English grammar, they kept up the act for years leading many to believe that was true. Towards the end of the thread, they have apologized for ruining people’s expectations regarding the persona. They ended the thread by mentioning that more unannounced content that they have posted will be revealed in the future though it might be subject to change later on.
Video game critic Alex Donaldson shared his thoughts about leaks and leakers in a tweet. It’s common courtesy to not blurt out any information you find especially when people have mentioned that they don’t want to hear any future updates for a game until they are announced or released. Nobody enjoys hearing spoilers for something they are looking forward to.
To paraphrase a small part of the tweet, “While it is fun to know about content that is going to be revealed, it makes the lives of the developers miserable as they will have to go through a thorough investigation on how such information was leaked out.”

To clarify once more, these are all rumors so take it with a huge grain of salt. This isn’t the only drama we’ve seen this year. There was the controversy with Nijisanji EN and Selen Tatsuki that shook the Vtuber community back in February 2024.
