Netflix has announced the start of production on Season 2 of the beloved live-action adventure ONE PIECE with a video showing the cast of the original Straw Hat crew, Iñaki Godoy (Monkey D. Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji) reuniting in Cape Town. Watch the video below to see the reunion.
It was previously announced that new cast members joining Season Two will include Brendan Sean Murray as Brogy, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Clive Russell as Crocus, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton, and Werner Coetser as Dorry. Additional cast will be announced at a later date.
The first season of the live-action series was released on Netflix on August 31, 2023. It received positive reviews from fans and critics alike, praising the performances, writing, visual effects, and general fidelity to the source material.
For those unaware of how popular the manga is for ONE PIECE, it was created by Eiichiro Oda and the series has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997. As of 2024, the manga has sold over 500 million copies worldwide making it the best-selling manga series in history. For the anime, it has surpassed 1000 episodes since it started airing in 1999. It is available in multiple languages, boosting its popularity.
Starting from this year, Netflix will be bringing in animated films and series of all genres including Ultraman: Rising, Arcane: Season 2 and many more.
