Exciting news continues to roll in for Monster Hunter Wilds fans! Sony has announced a limited edition PS5 DualSense controller and console cover themed after the highly anticipated game. However, there’s a catch—the release appears to be exclusive to Japan and select Southeast Asian countries. Specifically, PlayStation Asia has confirmed in a post on X that the controller will be available for purchase in Southeast Asia. This announcement follows Capcom’s recent showcase for Monster Hunter Wilds, which generated considerable buzz among both long-time enthusiasts and new fans alike.
The upcoming game is a follow-up to Monster Hunter World and is set to launch on February 28, 2025. In an effort to enhance the PS5’s customization options, Sony has unveiled a striking Volcanic Red controller adorned with the Forbidden Area Research Team logo on the touchpad, complemented by floral designs along the handles.
Meanwhile, the Midnight Black PS5 cover offers a minimalist design, featuring the same logo subtly positioned in the corner. Pre-orders for these limited items will begin on October 30, 2024, exclusively for Japan. Additionally, starting November 22, 2024, players in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam will have the chance to pre-order the controller from select retailers, priced at SGD 119, MYR 419, IDR 1,549,000, THB 2,890, PHP 4,890, and VND 2,399,000.
In terms of pricing, the controller will retail for approximately 12,480 yen (around $81), while the cover plates will be priced at 9,980 yen (about $65). Unfortunately, neither accessory will include the Monster Hunter Wilds game itself, which must be purchased separately.
Looking ahead, February 2025 is shaping up to be an exhilarating month for gamers, with Monster Hunter Wilds launching alongside major titles such as Civilization 7, Avowed, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Assuming these games stick to their release schedules, players will have a wealth of options to enjoy.
To get an early taste of the action, players can also look forward to an open beta test, which was announced during Capcom’s recent Monster Hunter Wilds showcase. For more details, be sure to check our coverage on it here!
