The PlayStation VR2 is set to expand its capabilities with a new Steam app, allowing users to play VR games through Steam starting August 6, 2024.
Sony previously announced that they have been working on expanding the VR game library for the PlayStation VR2 by testing PC game support. Recently, a PS VR2 application appeared on Steam, set to launch on August 6, granting access to PC VR titles from Valve’s platform. This new Steam app will allow players to enjoy various virtual reality games and applications available on Steam using the PlayStation VR2.
Features:
- Play VR games and apps on Steam using your PlayStation VR2 headset and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.
- Set up your PlayStation VR2 on your PC.
- Update the firmware for your PlayStation VR2 headset and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers.
- Adjust settings for your PlayStation VR2 from the SteamVR dashboard, including setting your play area and screen brightness.
You’ll need 3 things to use the app:
- PlayStation VR2 VR headset
- PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers (Connect via Bluetooth)
- PlayStation VR2 PC adapter
The adapter is required to connect the PlayStation VR2 to a PC which will open up a larger library of VR games beyond what is available on PS5. While the app itself is free, users must keep it installed on their PC to access Steam VR games. As mentioned, the PlayStation VR2 Steam app will be available on August 6, 2024.
